Greta and the Giants – Review

By Zoë Tucker and Zoe Persico

“There was once a girl who lived at the heart of a beautiful forest. Her name was Greta.”

If you’ve got kids who are aware of the issue of climate change like mine are, then this is a book for you! Its an incredibly sweet tale about a young girl, inspired by Greta Thunberg, who despite being small, defends her forest from oblivious giants who are ruining it.

When the animals in her forest ask for her help, she decides to protest the destruction the giants are unwittingly causing. When she starts her protest she’s all alone, but others quickly join her until there are so many of them, the giants have no choice but to listen, even if they don’t really want to.

The book is filled with hope, inspiration, and ideas for a better future – that there are different ways of living that aren’t so destructive to the environment. And of course, the message that everyone can make a difference, no matter how small they are! It even has some information about Greta Thunberg and a list of things kids can try to help save the planet at the back. It’s a fabulous book, talking about such a big issue in a very accessible, child-friendly (and non-anxiety inducing!) way. We love it!!!
