Grimm’s make the most beautiful toys – gorgeous, bright rainbow colours and smooth, tactile wood. If you’ve ever gazed longingly at a toy “shelfie” on Instagram, I can almost guarantee there was a Grimm’s toy or two on there! They’re just brilliant for open-ended play! Of course, they don’t have to stay in their house form – they can be used as unusually shaped building blocks, (and the simplistic doors and windows are only drawn on one side for when they’re not a house!)

ELEMENTS STACKERS

Though you can buy all four of these (rainbow, cave, water and fire) in one large tray set, you can spread the cost out by buying them individually! We love our large cave and fire sets – they’re super pretty and inviting on the shelf, and get used a lot! They’re fun as an unusual construction toy, and they can be used in a wealth of ways. (The centre of the cave has spent the last 48 hours being a gold ingot!) There’s lots of scope for creating little nooks for your toy animals, and are great for adding adventure to small world play.

RAINBOW HOUSE STACKER

This little gem has houses stacked inside houses! Brilliant for creating lots of little homes for your peg dolls. (And again, they don’t have to stay as houses – Mr6 is utterly convinced the blue bit in the centre is a mobile phone!) It’s the lovely rainbow colours that Grimm’s is famous for, though there is a natural wood version, should that be more your thing.

Four large, uneven, multifaceted building blocks, that are a challenge to stack! See if you can get all four to balance!!! They’re fab for background building in small world play, for kids too small to see the challenge in building with them, and brilliant for loose-parts play (which is a favourite around here).
