“Young Iggy Peck is an architect,
And has been since he was two,”
Its no secret that we’ve got a little scientist in our house, so STEM activities and books are a huge part of what we do. But sometimes in the midst of all that science-ing, you need a bit of story time. A bit of balance. And to add a bit of STEAM to your STEM!
Enter science stories and picture books – and this book in particular!!! It’s a fun tale about a kid who loves to build, and who ends up saving his class with his architectural and engineering knowledge!

Iggy shows a talent for building and architecture at a young age, and clearly has a real passion for it, until he gets to second grade where his teacher won’t have any of it and stops him building. He’s unhappy, not being able to follow his interests, but then….. Iggy’s whole class gets stranded during a field trip, and the teacher faints in panic! Iggy eventually saves the day by designing a bridge, and co-ordinating his class to build their own rescue! He’s an engineering hero!!!

It’s a lovely story, all written in rhyming language, complete with some dirty nappies and underpants for tiny people to “eeeeeew” and giggle at!!! Mr6 loves it, and its been a hit around here for quite a while. A fab book for encouraging STEM in little ones, and for encouraging kids to follow their dreams!
